Pose of the Week - Cat Cow.
Cat Cow
Whether you’re a master yogi or a total beginner you’ll probably know what a cat cow stretch is; it’s one of those movements that’s pretty much included in nearly every sport related warm up but especially popular in fitness and strength training due to its uses in targeting spinal mobility and control of the vertebral column. In a nutshell, it’s a combination of two poses practiced together to gently warm up the spine and the abdomen.
Start on all fours, from here the belly drops down towards the mat as you lift the chest and sitting bones up into cow and then transitioning into cat by rounding the spine, protracting the shoulder blades and dropping the head towards the floor. It releases the tensions around the spine and shoulders and tightens the abdomen to make a stronger core.
Benefits:
A great opening of the spine to increase mobility

Stretches the back and neck to improve flexibility
Improves posture with the alignment of the body in this pose
